Gender Reveal Party
If we’re friends on Instagram, you probably already know that we’re expecting baby #2 on May 21, 2019! With our first son, Branson, we didn’t find out the gender until he was born, which was SO fun. It wasn’t really hard for me to not know for a few reasons - 1) I knew I wanted to have more kids so it didn’t really matter to me if my first was a boy or a girl, 2) I knew I’d save a lot of money if I waited to find out (I love to shop), and 3) I figured I already had to wait 5 months to find out the gender at the anatomy scan, so what were 4 more months of waiting?
Not. This. Time. I needed to know! Would I have a baby girl and could go crazy buying all the pink and sparkly things or would I have another boy, a little buddy for Branson, and save a bunch of money? (lol)
I had about the same sickness with this baby in the first trimester as with Branson - which thankfully wasn’t much. I never threw up (I don’t know how other mamas survive!) but was nauseous in the evenings and extremely tired. I had some other, different symptoms though (I’ll spare you the deets) so I thought, hmmm maybe this one’s a girl. Plus, that’s what the Chinese Gender Reveal Calendar said, and it was right with Branson ;) I was leaning towards girl up until the week of our Gender Reveal Party, when I realized I needed to prep myself for the possibility of another boy.
We decided to do a small brunch with a few friends because I didn’t want a huge party and because I love any excuse to have a brunch.
My sweet friends, Katie Ernst and Kate Lints, helped put together the fabulous food and decorations. Kate took all the photos in this post. Check out her work here: http://www.katelintsphotography.com/.
We ordered confetti from Thimble Press because it had gold confetti mixed in with the pink/blue, which I loved. There was so much gold it was hard to see the gender color, but I still loved it.
Speaking of the gender color… Baby #2 is a…
BOY!
Here are the candid photos of my feelings when I found out - ha!
Right before I popped that confetti, I knew it was a boy. Seeing as I have all sisters and only one boy cousin, I figured I’d have all boys! I was hoping for a girl, but now I am super excited for Branson to have a baby brother.
We’re so thankful for the blessing of another baby and continue to pray for a healthy baby boy.
Thank you to everyone who’s shared in our excitement. I know it's not easy for everyone to see photos like this. I know some of you wish you had kids but are waiting on a partner, some of you are trying to have kids, some of you are waiting to adopt. And I just want you to know that I think about you and pray for you and thank you for celebrating with me when it might not be easy for you.
Boy Moms - send me all your tips!
